How COVID-19 is spread

  • You can become infected by coming into close contact (about 6 feet or twoarm lengths) with a person who has COVID-19. COVID-19 is primarily spreadfrom person to person.
  • You can become infected from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
  • You may also be able to get it by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, and then by touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Patients, who are infected or highly suspected with the COVID-19 virus, should wear masks and put on other PPEs to prevent spreading it to someone else.

The protection of healthcare personnel from infectious disease exposures in the workplace requires a combination of controls, one of which is the use of PPE.

General public should use PPEs as well if they are essential workers or have to perform eseential activities in the public areas.
